Man Sent Home From Work For Wearing Shorts Comes Back Wearing A Dress

Man sent home from work for wearing shorts comes back wearing a dress

A man sent home from work for wearing shorts came back to the office wearing a dress.

The call centre worker wore the dress to protest his company’s “sexist” dress code.

Man sent home from work comes back wearing dress

20 year-old Joey Barge wore shorts to work because the temperature at Buckinghamshire in south-east England registered a blistering 30 degrees.

However, management soon sent him home directing him to return wearing long pants, to comply with the company’s dress code.

But Barge had other ideas, and took to Twitter to explain:

“I got sent home and told to change into appropriate clothing but it said females could wear dresses so hey ho!”

Joey Barge posted his costume change on Twitter.

Many supporters

Barge received plenty of support from his Twitter followers:

“That’s pathetic!  If a woman can wear skirts/dresses then men should be able to wear shorts.”

“Men should always be allowed to wear shorts like women can wear skirts and dresses… equality.”

Sex discrimination

Miles Heffernan, Director of Litigation at Discrimination Claims, said Mr Barge has highlighted the company’s sex discrimination.

“Discrimination is when someone is treated less favourably than someone else because of an attribute like sex,” he said.

“Mr Barge has a fair point here.

“It can be argued he is being treated less favourably because he is a man.

“And to be fair, it certainly looks like he can pull off wearing a dress, so I don’t see why it is so offensive to allow him, and all men, to wear shorts on hot days.”

Surprisingly, Barge’s protest appears to have worked.

The call centre has agreed to change its dress code policy to allow men to wear three quarter length shorts – so long as they are black, navy or beige.
