A 10 year-old boy who needed hospital treatment after being bashed by bullies and said he didn’t fight back because, “it’s not the Jedi way” has been sent a personal message from Luke Skywalker.
Actor Mark Hamill, who played Skywalker, the most famous Jedi Knight in the Star Wars films, tweeted to Aiden Vasquez telling him he was “astonished by his courage and wisdom.”
According to Aiden’s mum Lizette, her son has been bullied for three years.
“Last year, he had to get stitches on his face from getting ‘pushed’, losing his breath on the playground from getting thrown down,” she wrote on Facebook.
“Now we’re making hospital visits and I’m pressing charges,” she added.
Aiden needed stitches after suffering a cut to his face in the latest incident.
His mum posted a photo of him with a swollen eye and bloodied face on Facebook.
“Aiden wants me to let everyone know he’s doing fine, all stitched up and numb… he said he felt it in his soul not to hit the kid back. It’s not the Jedi way,” she wrote.
When Mark Hamill read the story he tweeted:
“SHOUT OUT to Aiden Vazquez for his courage & wisdom in the face of adversity. I’m so proud of you for showing that you can be a Jedi in real Congratulations, Aiden- The Force will be with YOU… Always!!!
Aiden’s uncle responded to the tweet with a picture of the 10 year-old giving the thumbs up writing:
