Is the cute kid from The Wonder Years television show a sex pest?

Actor Fred Savage, who played Kevin on the hit 90s show, has been accused of sexual harassment… again.

Is the cute kid really a sex pest?

According to The New York Post, wardrobe assistant Youngjoo Hwang on The Grinder has accused Savage of sexual harassment.

As a result, she has filed a lawsuit against Savage and the Fox Network.

She accuses the actor of creating a hostile work environment, berating and even physically assaulting her.

According to The Post, Hwang claims Savage “violently struck” her on the arm as she brushed dandruff off Savage’s clothing for a shoot.

Additionally, she alleges Savage is verbally abusive to female crew members, and often rolls his eyes and glares at her.

Superiors discourage complaint

The wardrobe assistant says her superiors encouraged her to not report the conduct, because they feared losing their jobs.

She alleges one executive producer told her:

“I’m not even sure what Fred did constituted harassment and I don’t think you should report it to HR.”

Savage denies allegations

Savage has subsequently denied the allegations.

In a statement he wrote:

“These accusations are completely without merit and completely untrue.

“Fox conducted an extensive internal investigation into her claims, a process in which I fully participated.

“After concluding a thorough investigation, Fox determined that there was absolutely no evidence to support these allegations.

“None of her claims could be substantiated because they did not happen.”

Complaints made during Wonder Years

Savage first shot to fame starring in The Wonder Years, playing the adorable Kevin Arnold.

However, it has since been revealed that complaints had been made about his behaviour on that show too.

For example, costume designer Monique Long sued him for sexual harassment in 1993.

She alleged the then 16 year-old Savage made sexual comments and asked her to have an affair with him.

She claims producers fired her from the show as a result of making a complaint about the star’s behaviour.

Long subsequently settled her claim, which included Savage’s co-star Jason Hervey, for an undisclosed sum.

Me Too movement impacting Hollywood

Miles Heffernan from Discrimination Claims said the Harvey Weinstein scandal has encouraged more victims to come forward to make harassment complaints.

“The Me Too movement has really had a big impact on the entertainment industry,” he said.

“Therefore, it’s not surprising to see more people coming forward and speaking out about inappropriate behaviour on the set of movies and tv shows.”
